County Cricket Finals - July 1st 2022

County Cricket Final 

On Friday 1st July, a team of 9 KS2 boys and girls set off for the Cricket Finals Day at Trowbridge Cricket Club. Fitzmaurice were placed in Group B with Holt, St Marks, Crockerton and Sambourne Schools.

Fitz were fairly confident and made a great start to the group stage. They beat St Marks by just 2 runs in a closely fought first game. Next they saw off the challenge of Sambourne, scoring an impressive 97 runs in reply to their 38. Crockerton were the third opponents and Fitz continued their good form, winning by 17 runs. Local rivals, Holt, brought a tougher challenge and Fitz lost their only group stage match by 34 runs.

However, the team had come second in their group and were through to the semi-finals. Here they played a strong All Cannings side who had won Group A. Unfortunately, Fitz couldn’t quite manage the runs required and lost by 29 runs – a fine performance nevertheless!

Well done to Lewis, Luke, Jack, George, Ellie, Archie, Harvey, Ewan and David for representing the school, showing great teamwork and respect for all of the opposing teams.
