FS2 workshops

Our Foundation Stage Workshops are an important way for you to learn about how we teach Foundational Skills to your child and how you can help them at home. We hope that as many of you can attend as possible but recognise that not everyone will be able to.

As each workshop happens we will add the slides from the workshop to this page.

The workshops for this year are as follows:

Friday 25th September 2026 - Phonics

Learn about which Systematic Synthetic Phonics scheme we use, how we teach your children to blend and how we teach reading tricky words. You will also find links to videos for supporting your child with their pronunciation of sounds. 

Friday 2nd October 2026 - Reading at Fitzmaurice.

Learn about the importance of fostering a love of reading and how the reading book system works at Fitzmaurice answering all your questions about book changing, assessment and more.

Friday 9th October 2026 - Communication and Language Workshop

Learn about the importance of this Prime Area of the Early Years Curriculum and how it affects brain development, conceptual understanding and wellbeing.

Friday 16th October 2026 - Maths Workshop

Discover what is covered in the Foundation Stage Maths curriculum and the pace at which your child will work.
