Governors

The Governing Body exists to provide strategic oversight to the way the school is run and to be accountable for the decisions made by it. We have one over-riding purpose: to help make Fitzmaurice the best place for our children to learn.

On 1st October 2019 Fitzmaurice Primary School became part of Palladian Academy Trust.

The Trust Board convenes Local Governance Committees, which work with specific schools and have delegated responsibilities from the Trust Board, in order to ensure the non-executive of the Trust fulfils the three core purposes of governance which are:

  1. ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction

  1. holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and

  1. overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

The Local Governance Committee (LGC) also has a role in engaging with all stakeholders in the school(s) and wider community.

Schools are required to publish the following information regarding their governors:

Please note this mailbox is only monitored during term time.

Throughout the year we have responsibility for ensuring statutory compliance in Health and Safety, Safeguarding, monitoring academic progress, and recruiting teaching staff amongst many other things.

The School Governing Body meets once a term 6 times a year. Governors also meet with the School Leadership team and Palladian's CEO & COO.
