Live Assembly from Antarctica!
Back
Year 5/6 had the pleasure of joining a live assembly all the way from Antarctica. Robert Swan spoke to the children from an ice base, showing them breathtaking views of endless ice and snow. He shared his inspiring story of walking from the North to the South Pole while pulling a 120lb sledge filled with equipment. Robert also answered some of the children’s questions. When asked about the temperature at 6:30am, he explained it was a freezing –20°C. Another student wondered why it was sunny so early in the morning, and Robert told them that during the summer months, the sun stays in the sky all day and night. It was an unforgettable experience that left everyone completely captivated.
