Welcome

………. to our school!   This website gives you general information about Fitzmaurice, our team and how we are organised, what we learn and teach, our clubs and the many other activities and events that we organise.

We hope that you will find whatever you are looking for, as well as enjoying the site and joining with us in celebrating every aspect of our school.  “What makes us special is that we don’t judge people here or treat them differently – everyone just gets on with everyone” – a Y6 pupil, November 2009.

With approximately 220 children on roll, we are like a big family, with everyone looking out for each other.  Fitzmaurice is a very happy, vibrant place to be, for children and adults alike, and we aim to deliver the best possible educational experience for everyone.

Fitzmaurice's Head for the past 7 years, Shiel R Taylor, MA

The school has undergone major improvements in recent years and is fortunate in having a very dedicated team of staff who are totally committed to Fitzmaurice.  The current Head, Mrs Shiel Taylor, has been in post for 7 years, having spent over 30 years in teaching, in 8 different schools (3 as Head).  She cares passionately about securing and providing the best that we possibly can for our children.  The whole school team, including a huge number of volunteers, is enthusiastic and dedicated to making Fitzmaurice even better. Perhaps that’s why our children really enjoy coming to school every day!

If you want to know what we’re really like, why not come and see for yourself?  Some of our Year 6 pupils will be delighted to show you around and Mrs Taylor will be pleased to talk to you.

Ofsted

“The school provides a very welcoming and extremely safe and secure environment, which very effectively nurtures pupils’ learning, personal development and well-being.”
