Headlines
Stranger danger – Please remind your children that if you are not there to collect them from the playground, then they must report to the office straight away. There have been a few incidences recently of children failing to do this. A reminder from you as parents/carers and us as a school will ensure that our children remain safe at all times. Please also ensure that if your collecting arrangements change, you let the office know by 3pm. Children should not walk home by themselves until they are at least 10 years old and in year 5.
Ice Creams – Don’t forget Ice creams are being sold in the main playground every Wednesday after school. All ice creams are 50p each.
Staff car park – Can we reiterate again that the car park should not be used to drop off/pick up your children each day. A minority of parents continue to do so and it is preventing staff from being able to park and start work on time.
Goldfinch class cake sale – A reminder that this is being held on Friday 13th May.
Mobile phones – Children should not have their mobile phones on them in school. If you require your child to have their mobile phone for after school, please ensure they hand them in to reception at the beginning of the school day and then collect them at the end of the day.
Light controlled crossing news – The school can confirm that the Cabinet Member for Highways has approved the recommendation to provide a light controlled crossing on Frome Road. The works are scheduled to take place in the second half of November.
Free compost for schools – help required – From 08-14th May schools across Wiltshire are being offered free compost as Hills Waste Solutions celebrate Compost Awareness Week. We at Fitzmaurice would like to take up this offer as we could put this compost to good use in starting up another raised bed. As the window of opportunity for getting this compost is quite small, we would be very grateful if a parent/carer would be willing to help us by getting the compost for us. If you are able to help, please contact the school office.
Orange Wig day – On Friday 20th May, Mrs Dunn will be sporting a large orange wig for allergy and anaphylaxis awareness. If you would like to make a donation to this Anaphylaxis Campaign, a collection tin will be available in the school office.
