West Wilts Gym competition – As you know we went to the Gym competition. When we got there we were SO excited. After we put our things upstairs, we went to do the warm up. There were 17 other schools (that’s a lot don’t you think!) Then we went around the gym and did lots of fun activities such as: jumping into the foam pit, bouncing on the trampoline and doing battle beam. Finally we started the competition for real. Everybody did their best and there were no mistakes. We are all very proud of ourselves, here’s how we did. By Ibby and Scarlett

Individual Champions: – Violet – (Elite), Armand – (Advanced) –and Danny-Joe -(Beginners) Individual results: Gabriella 2nd, Olivia 3rd (Advanced), Ibby 3rd (Beginners) Apparatus Champions – Danny-Joe (Floor), Armand (Floor/Vault), Ibby (Vault), Thomas (Vault)

Apparatus results – Gabriella 2nd (Floor/Vault), Maya 2nd (Vault)

A fantastic result for Fitzmaurice! A massive well done to all who took part and thank you to those parents who helped out on the day. Miss Blake

Owl class cake sale A reminder that the Owl class cake sale takes place tomorrow 22nd April.

School dinner orders The kitchen are reporting a large increase in the number of children ordering meals on the day. Whilst the kitchen always strive to cover unexpected meals, they have asked us to remind all parents/carers that all food orders should be received on the Thursday of the week before. There have been a number of times recently when they have only just been able to cover all the required meals due to this reason and respectfully request your cooperation on this matter.

Head Lice – There seem to be a lot of cases recently. Please check and if necessary treat your children promptly if you see any evidence of these little bugs so that we may stop them spreading! Zebra crossing – Tiddlywinks nursery staff have reported seeing a number of our parents failing to stop for the zebra crossing by the school gate. Please do ensure you abide by the rules of the road so that we can reduce the chance of any accidents happening.

Ice Creams Ice creams will be sold in the main playground from Wednesday 4th May after school. All ice creams will be sold for 50p each.

Zumba venue change for 1 week only Because of our Year 3 / 4 production, Zumba will be held at St Laurence  school from 6.45 – 7.45pm on Tuesday 26th April for one week only. Back to normal the following week.

Blackbird class assembly date change – Please note that this will now take place on Friday 17th June.

CITV writing competition – We have only just found out about an exciting writing competition for children to enter. At Fitz we think it is important for children to write at home as well as in school. However, often children are reluctant to write outside of school with all the other distractions around them. We believe children need to be given a purpose for their writing and what better incentive than to enter a competition.

Over the past 6 years CITV have run a story writing competition. This year they are continuing with this and are offering children a chance to enter an exciting competition. Winners will be given the opportunity to work with the fantastic children’s author and poet Michael Rosen to improve their story. In addition to this, winners stories will be made into a short animation.

There are four age categories:

·         5 to 6 Year olds

·         7 to 8 Year olds

·         9 to 10 Year olds

·         11 to 12 Year olds

If you would like further information or wish your child to enter please see the CITV website  for further details and the entry form. The closing date is the 29th of April so they need to get writing if they wish to enter. Good Luck!

Wiltshire Council SEND questionnaire request – Wiltshire Council is currently considering the way that it supports children and young people with SEND, and a draft Special Educational Needs and Disability Strategy for 2016-19 is currently being consulted upon. The Strategy sets out the vision and key priorities for provision of services and support for 0-25 year olds. In order to support the strategy and make sure that services are right for children, young people, their parents and carers, the Council is also seeking the views of children and young people themselves.

A survey is now available for children and young people to complete online

(Hard copies can be made available upon request by emailing or calling 01225 713712).

If a child needs support to complete the survey, please do feel free to get involved – all that is asked is that their words are used wherever possible.

The survey closes on May 31st 2016, and the results will be made available soon after in a report, as well as incorporated into future service development. Thank you.
