Road to Rio – The whole school are taking part in this initiative being run by Wiltshire Council. Each week we are accumulating kilometres as a school team from the physical activities we are doing in and outside of school. Every 15 minutes of exercise = 1km. Our aim is to reach Rio by the end of term 6! We are doing fantastically well so far and are 30% towards our end goal.
Class winners – week 1
Week 1 Total = 4084km – keep up the hard work!!!
Y4 Arts Day – A reminder to all Y4 parents/carers that tomorrow, (Friday 17th June) is the Y4 Arts day at St Laurence school. Children should be dropped off directly at St Laurence School main reception at 9am with a packed lunch. Miss Noble will be there to receive the children. They will walk back to Fitzmaurice school in time for the end of the day. If any children have an inhaler please can they bring one from home.
No Art Club – Please note that there will be no Art club next week – Tuesday 21st June.
Next week is Health week and the children will be involved in physical activity every day, so please can they have their PE kit in school all week.
Sports Day – This is taking place on Monday 20th June, FS2/KS1 from 10.30am and KS2 from 1.30pm. Parents are very welcome to attend. If you would like to join us for the morning session, we would request that you arrive promptly via the Poulton gate which will be locked at 10.35am for site security. If joining us for the KS2 afternoon session, please arrive via the wooden gate by the office. The gate will be locked at 1.35pm for site security. Each session lasts approx. 1 hr . We would appreciate it if you can spectate only on the right hand side of the track and not at the finish line. At the end of the KS2 races, parents will have to wait until the end of the school day to collect their children.
Miss Blake would also be very grateful for any parent/carer helpers on the day, please make yourself known when you arrive. We do hope the weather is kind to us on the day and that many of you will come to cheer on your children!
Y3/4 Swimming Gala – This is being held on Wednesday 23rd June. We will be leaving school at 9am. Miss Blake would again be very grateful for any parent/carer helpers who can help with walking to and from the pool and at the poolside. Please let Miss Blake know if you can help on the day. The more people that can come along to help will ensure the event can run smoothly. Everyone is very welcome to come and watch, the gala starts at 9.30am.
Queen’s Birthday Celebration Day – Next Friday 24th June we will be holding a “Birthday Celebration Day” to commemorate Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday.
