WE DID IT!! – It has now been confirmed by Guiness World Records that we have successfully broken the record for the world’s largest paper bag! We used almost a mile of brown paper, a mile of paper string and three miles of paper tape to create a 73ft-long, 50ft-wide bag. Well done to all involved for this massive achievement. Special thanks to Jon – The Paper Bag Co., Tom – Varn Media and Liz Vaughton for allowing us to be a part of this. You can see them all in action creating the bag by following the youtube link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgz-N4aJihs
Y5/6 Tag Rugby Festival, BOA Rugby club Winsley – We will be travelling by coach to and from Winsley, leaving School at 9am and returning in time for lunch. Please can you ensure all children are suitably dressed with warm clothing, waterproofs and trainers/rugby boots. The children will be very active during the morning so therefore will need a snack and plenty to drink. We still need more parent helpers, please see your child’s class teacher if you are able to help.
Individual & sibling Photos – pre-school aged children are welcome to come and have a photo taken with their siblings between 8.30am & 9am in the school hall. Sign-up sheets will be in the School office for you to book your 5 minute slot. Please note that due to the number of families wanting photos, it will not be possible to accommodate anyone who misses their time slot. Siblings who all attend Fitzmaurice will have their photo taken together during the school day so please do not bring your children to this early morning slot.
Harvest Festival & Lunchbowl Collection – On Monday 12th October we will be having our harvest festival assembly. Due to the current success of the Bradford on Avon Foodbank, we have decided this year to support the lunchbowl charity, who help provide food for orphans in Kibera, Nairobi. We would like each child to come into school dressed as something which represents harvest i.e a farmer, or a piece of fruit/veg i.e dressed in orange for a carrot, in return for a £1 donation to be given to your childs class teacher on the day. Each £1 we collect will help provide 3 children with food for a day.
Parking – We would like to reiterate once again that parking is not permitted in the school car park at drop off and pick up times. We have also received a number of complaints from local residents concerning parking on the surrounding streets. Please can we request that you respect local residents by not blocking access to driveways or parking on pavements. Parking is provided free of charge at pick up and drop off times in the Canal & River Trust car park at Baileys Barn when displaying a valid permit. Please speak to the office to get your permit.

Fitz Friends new Chair and team
At our recent AGM, Sally bravely stepped up from being Vice Chair to take the lead role. She has been a brilliant team member these last few years, is full of ideas and will do a fabulous job as Chair. Helen has taken on the Vice role, Amy the Secretary and Sue remains as our trusty Treasurer. Please give them as much support as I’ve appreciated over the years. I’m sure we’re in for a bumper fundraising season!
