Year 3 Easter Craft morning, On Friday 27th March, all of the children in Year 3 (Swift, Puffin & Dove classes) will be taking part in an Easter Craft morning. There will be three separate activities/groups running as a carousel and any help would be greatly appreciated. If you are available to help with crafts in school on this date, please could you inform either Miss Blake or Miss Moore. Many thanks.
Considerate Parking: Please can we remember to be considerate of other drivers and pedestrians when using the Youth Centre car park, several people have been blocked in for 30mins or more by double parking at the end of the school day. Parents are reminded that the Youth Centre car park should not be used for drop off/pick ups. We have an arrangement in place with the canal trust to use the Baileys Barn car park at drop off and pick up times for free. Please see the office to get your parking permit.
Please can all Fitzmaurice P.E. T-shirts, football kit and borrowed dance kit be returned asap to Miss Blake as they are required for other pupils and upcoming events
Additional Gym Club date on Friday 27th March gym club will run from 4pm – 5pm (slightly later than usual) as we need to fit in some practise in preparation for the Gym Festival after the holidays.
Just a reminder that it’s Litter picking for Eco-schools on Thursday, 3.30- 4.30pm volunteers meet at bicycle shed.
Retail Therapy Night: Huge thanks to Hazel, Antonia, Jenny and Charlotte who masterminded the whole event. The hall was transformed beautifully, the stalls were buzzing with people trying new treatments and indulging in goodies (not to mention the fancy fruity straws and classy canned cocktails!) and many a happy punter left with a great raffle prize. Thank you to everyone who supported the event, who helped set-up, clear-up, lock-up and run the Bar too…couldn’t happen without you all! We’ll let you know the totals as soon as we’ve finished juggling remaining Bar stock/takings/proper paid jobs etc etc!
Carolyn’s ‘Haggis’ collection:
Thank you to all those who contributed to Carolyn’s leaving gift. We had a great response and purchased (on a tip off!) a beautiful large vase by her favourite potter, a hand printed silk scarf in her preferred turquoise/green colours and a china mug with a suitable message of cheer to think of us all that I’d best not write in Fitz Weekly (ask me on the playground if you want to know!). She was very touched and absolutely thrilled by them all.
Eco Volunteers required
This spring Fitzmaurice Primary School is going for Green Flag status under the Eco-Schools programme. We have lots of amazing green achievements to show the Eco-School inspectors, such as our new solar panels and compost scheme. We need your help though to get our grounds squeaky clean and pick up litter in top field, woods and footpath by the school.
If you can help for 30mins to 1hour please meet on Thursday 19th March, 3.30pm by the bicycle shed on the playground- rain or shine! If you have any questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org or catch me in the playground Sally Tonkin (mummy of Dylan- Doves and Tillie-The Nest)
NB All children must be supervised by parents or carers.
Bag packing at Sainsbury’s, Saturday 18th April
‘Please sign up in the school office for Sainsbury’s bag packing taking place on Saturday 18 April, 2-5pm. We’d be really grateful if you and your child(ren) could volunteer for an hour – this is a really good opportunity to help fundraise for the FSA and to raise the profile of the school in the local community. It doesn’t matter if the children are little or big as long as they are keen.
The FSA will be looking to make significant investments in the play area and equipment outside The Nest in the next academic year and have been carrying out new fundraising initiatives to counter the loss of income from the fireworks this year. If you can spare some free time for this please sign up!
Thanks very much from the FSA.
The Strawberry Fair Raffle 2015
Help! I am on the lookout for some great prizes for the Strawberry Fair Raffle 2015. If you have any great ideas, contact or prizes/ vouchers that you would be happy to offer then please email me email@example.com or catch me at school Sally Tonkin (Mummy of Dylan Doves and Tillie Ducklings). Thanks!
Thank you from Mrs Dyer
I was completely overwhelmed on Friday by your kind words and goods wishes and the incredibly generous, beautiful gifts which you gave me. The pottery vase will be treasured as a reminder of the amazing 10 years which I have spent working at Fitz and of all the people whom I have had the pleasure of meeting. The scarf is exactly the colours and style which I enjoy wearing. I am moving to something new but I’ll never forget my time at Fitz. Thank you & best wishes.

Bradford on Avon Lions Club trip to Paultons Park
As a mark of our continuing gratitude for the support given to us over the years, the Lions Club of Bradford-on-Avon are organising another trip to Paultons Park (www.paultonspark.co.uk) on Sunday 26 April this year, and are again able to offer a number of free places to local families.
These places will include coach travel there and back from Bradford-on-Avon, and the cost of admission to the Park (which covers rides on almost everything). All you will need to provide is food and drink during the day, when you will be free to enjoy the facilities at your leisure. On the day we will be leaving Bradford-on-Avon (Station Car Park) at 8.30am and returning from Paultons Park at about 4.30/5.00pm.
This year we are limited to places for up to 54 people (1 coach), and would like to invite interested families to contact us, with priority going to new applicants and those who were not lucky enough to go in previous years. Any remaining places will be allocated via a draw.
Therefore, if you are interested in joining us on our ‘day-out’, please contact Lion Richard Bloom, either by e-mail on ‘firstname.lastname@example.org’ or by phone on 01225-865977, by Tuesday 31 March at the latest, with family numbers and names, children’s ages and school/s attended.
NB: Please note that in the context of this trip, the definition of a family is 1 or 2 adults and their children up to age 15.
