Nuts in School – We would like to remind all parents that nuts and nut based products should not be brought in to School under any circumstances. We have a number of students with allergies.
Bradford on Avon Youth Centre – As we are sure you will all be aware; the Bradford on Avon youth centre was officially re-opened by the town council over the Summer. They have politely requested that we refrain from using their parking spaces to enable use for hirers. Parents/Carers are also reminded that our car park should not be used for dropping off and collecting students, except by prior arrangement or for blue badge holders. We are continuing our arrangement with the Canal and River Trust to use their car park at Baileys Barn free of charge during these times when displaying one of our parking permits. Please speak to the School Office to get your permit.
Morning drop-off KS2 – Now that the children are in their second week in their new classes, please could parents encourage children to come into the building independently. If you need to get a message to your child’s teacher, please speak to the member of staff on the door who will pass it on
Collecting at the end of the day – Please ensure you notify your child’s class teacher/ TA at morning drop off or via the link book, if somebody different is going to be collecting your child. If there is an unexpected change, please notify the school office before 3pm where possible. Whilst we will endeavour to pass on messages after this time, it is a busy time of day for the office and we cannot guarantee being able to deliver messages received after 3pm.
Meetings with teachers – If you would like to arrange a meeting with your child’s class teacher, please put a request in their link book, or speak to the TA on the door at morning drop-off. Please note that ALL teachers will be in staff meetings after school on Mondays, and will therefore be unable to meet with you at this time.
Library – Mrs Saunders is looking for parent helpers to work with our junior librarians at lunchtimes so that children can borrow and return books from our school library. If you are able to spare an hour (12.30 – 1.30) on a regular basis once a week, please contact the school office. Many thanks.
Y3/4 Swimming lessons – swimming for years 3 & 4 will start on Wednesday 23rd September. Please ensure your child has their kit in school on this day. Each class will also need parents to help walk the children to and from the swimming pool. So far we have had very little response for Dove and Swift classes. If you are able to help, please see your child’s class teacher ASAP. We also have swimming hats available from the school office for £1 each.
Forest Schools – This term, Goldfinch class will be doing Forest Schools on Wednesday afternoons, and Red Kite class will be doing Forest Schools on Thursday afternoons. Please make sure your child has a change of clothes, a waterproof coat and old shoes/wellies in school for these sessions. Each class will also need parents to help with the sessions. If you are able to help, please see your child’s class teacher.
FSA AGM Weds 16th September (Y6 classroom) at 7.30pm. Next week the Fitzmaurice School Association will be having the first meeting of the 2015 – 16 year, this will also be our AGM. We look forward to welcoming anyone new to the meeting on Wednesday where we will be discussing all the exciting events happening over the next term. Everyone is very welcome to come along.
New FSA Chair. We are looking for a parent to become our FSA Chair, or possibly 2 people to Co-Chair.
This is a fun, exciting and varied role. If you love organising, creating events and fundraising (for those extra things the pupils need) then please get in touch. Leave a note with school office (labelled FSA) before Wed 16th Sept if you are interested. Our current Chair, Julia Savage will still be on hand to guide and assist when needed.
