Headlines

Children in Need – Please help us support this year’s Children In Need appeal by dressing up as a superhero. This can be a famous character or someone who is important to your child. Please send a £1 donation to School with your child on Friday 13th November.

KS1 Writing Box – Each week in Blackbird, Falcon and Goldfinch class we are going to be celebrating one child’s personal achievements in writing. The children will be awarded a certificate in our key stage one assembly on a Thursday and will be allowed to bring home a writer of the week box. The box will be stocked with a range of writing implements and different types of writing paper, notelets and cards to use at home. Please support your children to make the most of box and share these experiences with them.

If your child is awarded with the box please can you ensure the box is returned by the following Tuesday so it can be ready for the next child.

If you have any items at home such as unused cards, writing paper, notelets, envelopes etc. that could be included in the box these would be very gratefully received. Please hand these in to the school office or give them to a member of staff within Key Stage one.

Fitz Football kit & sports T-shirts – There are still some items which have not been returned to School. Please can these be brought in as soon as possible.

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal – From 3rd November to 11th November we will be selling poppies in support of the royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. If your child would like to purchase a poppy please send in a suggested donation of £1. The Year 6 children will be taking them around classrooms to sell during the week, and they will also be available to buy from the Office. This year, we will also be selling friendship bracelets, rulers, wristbands, reflectors and pencils for suggested donations ranging between 50p & £1.00

Fitz Friends News

Fantastic Fireworks

Don’t forget you can buy your Fireworks tickets on the Fitz playground every day this week. Julia will be standing by the bike shed every morning and afternoon this week, so do seek her out if you want to get your hands on some tickets. Prices in advance are: Adults £5 each and kids (5-17yrs) £2.50 each. (Tickets cost more on the gate). Cash or cheques made payable to BoA United Schools Fireworks Committee.

Shooting Superstar Volunteers

Superstar thanks to all of you that have already volunteered for the Fantastic Fireworks event! We would be extremely grateful if anyone can help fill the last gaps in the Fireworks masterplan. The event typically raises £6000 and is split between the three local schools; giving our Fitzmaurice fundraising a huge boost of about £2000. We use this money to fund things that directly benefit our kids such as i-pads, podeley sets, trips to the pantomime or theatre and Christmas crackers!

What we need most are people to:

Collect money on the Bouncy Castle (no supervision involved!)

Work on the BBQ stall

Work on the sweets and glow things stall

Any time between 5.30 and 8 would be great.

If you think you can help please email boafireworks@gmail.com

School Disco

Look out in book bags this week for the School Disco flier and reply slip! The School Disco takes place on Wednesday 18th November in the school hall over two sessions. Entry is still only £1 per child! This year we’ll be selling crisps, drinks and super cool finger lights from our Disco tuck shop. Also our DJ will be awarding some small prizes for the grooviest movers!

Tea Towels

I don’t usually get excited about tea towels but…. I can’t wait to see the fantastic Fitz fundraising tea towels arrive in time for Christmas! Thanks to the parent/carer who suggested (via our questionnaire ) that we should do these as having had a little sneak preview the kids’ pictures are brilliant! Look out for fliers in book bags soon.

Christmas Cards

Many thanks to those of you who have sent back your completed fundraising Christmas Card designs to the school office. If like me you have totally forgotten to get this done over a hectic half term then you have until Monday 9th November to get your designs to the office. The office has a few spare templates in case of a drawing disaster!

Price -12 cards- £4.75 a pack (same price as last year)

Christmas Fair

Our Cracking Christmas Fair will take place on Saturday 28th November, 1.30 to 4.30pm. Please tell your friends, neighbours and family as entry is FREE and there are tonnes of festive activities to enjoy: Santa’s Grotto and Rudolph, Chair-o-plane ride and (yes!) a Minions Bouncy Castle, Xmas Bacon Bolt, Cafe with mulled cider and sweet/savoury snacks, Face Painting, Tattoos & Nails, Used Clothes Books & Toys Stalls, Christmas Craft Corner, Tombola and Lucky Dip, Trade Stalls to buy gifts, Games Room, Raffle and Children’s Secret Gift Wrapping.  Please could you remember to bring any tombola donations (e.g. New, unwrapped smellies, chocolates, bottles of wine, unwanted gifts etc) into the school office next week (9th-13th November).  All donations gratefully received!  We will be collecting bric a brac and second hand clothing donations closer to the fair, so please don’t bring these in yet.
