School Council

Hi, we are two of the school councillors Ruby and Caitlin and we are in Year 5. Last year the school council voted to choose one charity to support during the following year, instead of lots of charities like Children in Need and Comic Relief. We chose the British Heart Foundation , which is a charity that raises money for people with heart disease.

Next Friday, the 29th September is World Heart Day. The school council has decided that we should all wear something red (this could simply be red socks) and bring a £1 donation for the British Heart Foundation.

Look out for future news from the school council about the exciting fund raising event we are organising for later in the year!

The School Council for Fitzmaurice 2017-18 are already enjoying a great start to the new school year. We have all been looking forward to beginning another new, exciting year at Fitz!  As a council, we are very proactive; our councillors regularly meet with their classes and work together to put forward the pupil voice in our school.

Our School Council represents the views of all our pupils. It gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and feel part of the whole school community.

Fitzmaurice School Council has worked hard to represent the voice of Fitzmaurice pupils and to help make a positive difference to Fitzmaurice. Highlights include:

  • New play equipment
  • Producing a Fitz Anti-Bullying poster
  • Becoming learning detectives in classrooms at school to investigate how we are learning and how we can help to improve it
  • Interviewing prospective teachers
  • Buying Christmas toys for disadvantaged children in the local area
