Welcome to our Governors' section.

Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.

We have also provided a Register of Governor Interests and an Annual Statement of Issues for your information.

The Governing Body exists to provide oversight to the way the school is run and to be accountable for the decisions made by it. We have one over-riding purpose: to help make Fitzmaurice the best place for our children to learn.

We are comprised of 20 individuals representing parents, staff and members of the community. We all voluntarily give up our time to be governors.

Throughout the year we have responsibility for approving budgets, monitoring academic progress, auditing safeguarding procedures and recruiting teaching staff amongst many other things. In recent years we have also overseen the expansion of the hall and refurbishment of the kitchen; the appointment of new school dinner providers, school travel plans, and the recruitment of our new Headteacher. We also advised on the feasibility plans to expand the school to 330 pupils. We debated the pros and cons of the proposal and in the end unanimously agreed to proceed in principle with the expansion.

The current Chair is:

  • Nicola Williams

We are organised into 3 key committees which between them ensure that the school meets its targets and sets stretching but achievable objectives:

  • Curriculum and Standards Committee (C&S),  Chair Anna Wallace   This Committee was formerly known as Achievements, Standards and Creative Development (ASCD)
  • Finance and Premises (F&P), Co-chairs Nicky Locke and Philip Evans
  • Staffing, Chair Jill Johns
