Headlines

Library opening

The Library was officially opened at 3pm on Friday by Mrs Dunn and Peter Waterman from Bradford on Avon Library. It was a huge success with the children and staff displaying some fabulous character costumes. They enjoyed a whole day of book related activities including a story teller session and themed lunch of ‘Stone soup’ and ‘Schnitzel von Krumm’ hot dogs!

Huge thanks must go to the Lloyds banking group volunteers who did the initial painting, Jenny Dack who did all the murals and the parent helpers and volunteers, particularly Lesley & Ralph Macphie, Avril Clarke and Alex Johnson, for the weeks of putting together shelving, scanning, barcoding and labelling all the books.

Thanks must also go to all the parents who came in to read to the children throughout the day in their work uniforms. It was fantastic for the children to see all sorts of people reading and enjoying books.

The children are now enthusiastically using the library, added by our willing volunteer pupil librarians.

There is still time for you to make a donation of £5 towards the cost of new non-fiction books for the library. If you would like to do this, please contact the school office.

Puffin Class Cake Sale

On Friday 1st May Puffin class will be holding their class cake sale.  We would be very grateful if the parents of Puffin class pupils would bring in cakes on Friday to be sold after school to raise money for the class.  The cakes can be homemade or bought, large or small.  If your cake contains nuts etc. please mark accordingly.

Thanks in advance to Caroline Lock who is making the raffle cake.

We will also need puffin class parents to sell the cakes straight after school. Please see Miss Blake or Mrs Cox if you can help.

Gym Kit

Miss Blake has requested that all leotards and t-shirts from the gym festival are hand washed and returned to school ASAP please.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers

Our current total is 11,670! Thank you to all those who have contributed so far. We are well on the way to surpassing last year’s total. Please keep collecting the vouchers and putting them in the box outside the school office.

FSA NEWS

Thank you brilliant bag-packers!

Thank you to the brilliant children and parents who helped bag-pack at Sainsbury’s on Saturday afternoon. Jasper R, Beth and Abbie H, Sophie and James R, Elsie S, Florie W, William and Beatrice B, Amelia and Olivia P, Noah and Jasper V, Beth and Ben W, Rufus D and Amy K

who were great ambassadors for the school, being polite and helpful to the customers.

The 17 children raised a fantastic £343 which will go directly towards purchasing new play equipment for the area outside The Nest. A big thanks also to Miss Howlin and Miss Shergold for creating the lovely display and for helping us all afternoon.

As a bonus we were also given 1265 Active Kids vouchers which is a great contribution to the school’s total.

Strawberry Fair

We are still looking for raffle prizes for this year’s strawberry fair. If your company are willing to donate a prize, please contact the Julia Savage, FSA Chair (catch her in the playground outside Red Kite class).
