Celebrating Success

West Wilts Gym Festival, Wednesday 15th April

On Wednesday, 3 teams from our school took part in the West Wilts Gym Festival against 22 other school teams. The children had to perform a floor routine, and a vault, and the scores of both were then combined and added to the overall team score. All the children who took part performed fantastically well with no mistakes in either their floor routine or vault and should be congratulated on their achievement.

We are very pleased to announce that the A team (Carys M, Danny-Joe McG, Jasmine M, Violet B, Maya M and Armand W-H) are now overall County champions! The B team came 7th and the C team came 10th.

Individual success at Gym Festival

Beginners – Violet B and Carys M 2nd on floor, Ibby O’N 1st on vault and Violet B 2nd in overall competition out of 120 competitors!

Advanced – Armand W-H 3rd on vault and 2nd in the overall competition out of 80 competitors!

Elite – Georgia H 6th in the overall competition out of 20 competitors.

Miss Blake would like to thank all the children for their hard work over the last 6 weeks; this is proof that ‘practice makes perfect’!

Headlines

Library Opening, Friday 17th April

We will have a whole day of book related activities in school (including a book themed lunch!) and we would love it if your child could come to school dressed as a book character. We would also like parents to join in, so if you have any free time that day and would like to come in to read a book to a group of children, please see your child’s class teacher (if you are currently working and wear a uniform in your job, it would be great if you could wear that, so that the children see that lots of different people read books). The FSA will be providing refreshments in the hall after school, and there will also be an opportunity to have a look around the library and make a donation towards the cost of new book!

Forest Schools

Next term Blackbird and Puffin classes will be having Forest schools.

Please send them to school in the morning in their ‘forest school clothes’ and pack their school uniform and shoes in their bag to change into afterwards. They will need to have old comfy clothes that can get dirty, a waterproof coat and wellies or old trainers, sun cream and a sun hat.

Library- Thank you to all those who have helped with labelling books so far. We still have a way to go, so if you are able to help please let the office know

Milk Cartons

KS1 are still looking for 2 litre recycled milk cartons (with lids) for their igloo display. Please make sure these are washed thoroughly and then taken to any of the KS1 classrooms.

FSA NEWS

FSA Bag packing at Sainsbury’s, Saturday 18th April

Please sign up in the school office for Sainsbury’s bag packing taking place on Saturday 18 April, 2-5pm. We’d be really grateful if you and your child(ren) could volunteer for an hour – this is a really good opportunity to help fundraise for the FSA and to raise the profile of the school in the local community. It doesn’t matter if the children are little or big as long as they are keen. Money raised will be used primarily to improve the play area and equipment outside The Nest.

FSA Easter PiP Quiz

The FSA have extended the deadline for purchasing the Easter PiP quiz until Friday 24th April. These are available from the school office for £1 per quiz. Please remember to return your completed answer sheet to the office by Monday 27th April

FSA Race Night, Friday 24th April

Under starter’s orders…and we’re off for our second (adults only) Fitz Race Night! It’s odds on favourite to be as popular as the Pop Quiz so get your entries in asap. Space is limited so applications in by Tues 21st April please (we need to know how much to buy for the Bar so the sooner the better).  See the letters which were sent home this week for more information. Julia Savage, FSA

FSA Kids Film Club, Saturday 25th April 2-4pm in school hall

Welcome to the 12th FSA Film Club! This film has been chosen by pupils who came to Film Club back in January. We hope you like it. Remember, it’s FREE! But you must book your place in advance. Remember to bring lots of pocket money for snacks. Tea, coffee, homemade cakes (and possibly, ‘marmalade sandwiches’) will also be available for sale.

Please leave completed booking forms in an envelope marked “FILM CLUB” in the school office.

NB: Sorry, no pre-schoolers. All under-sixes to be accompanied by an adult.

* CERTIFICATE PG: CONTAINS ‘DANGEROUS BEHAVIOUR, MILD THREAT, INNUENDO’.

This film has not been chosen by the school. Parents and carers should use their judgement as to suitability. It is, however, brill.
