Congratulations to Joe M,

JM tennis who won the Bath ‘Road to Wimbledon’ tennis tournament on 7th June.

Joe will now go through to the next round of the tournament.  This is a 14 and under National Tournament and the winners of the next round get to play at Wimbledon.  He showed great mental strength in the final and is very proud of his efforts considering he is still only 10! Fantastic achievement Joe!

Cracking Cricket!

On Tuesday 9th June the Fitzmaurice Cricket Team, made up of James R, Will A, Seb P, Joe M, Joe D, Jacob M, Freddie R, Lily B and Jake B, went to Winsley to play a cricket tournament against schools from Bradford on Avon and Melksham. We played 5 matches against Christchurch, Aloeric, Churchfields, Winsley and St George and won them all! We played like true cricketers, and won the tournament with 1396, beating the second team with over 100 runs to spare!

Headlines

KS2 Sports Day change of date

We are taking the unprecedented decision to move sports day to Friday 17th July at 1.30pm due to the success of our cricket team reaching the REGIONAL FINALS which clashes with the original sports day date. We apologise for the inevitable inconvenience this will cause and hope that you will be able to make the new date

KS1 Sports morning remains on Monday 22nd June, 10.30am

Y3/4 Swimming – If your child is in Miss Blake’s deep end swimming group, please can you ensure they bring a t-shirt & shorts for their lesson on Wednesday 17th June as they will be practising their lifesaving skills.

Red Kite Cake Sale – Thank you to all those who helped make and sell cakes for Red Kite Class Cake Sale last week. We made a brilliant £142!

FSA News

FSA – Strawberry Fair

We hope you enjoyed reading all about next week’s Strawberry Fair. Don’t forget to return your Fun Run entries and raffle tickets stubs / money asap please. More tickets are available at the office.

Stalls – we still need your help! Slots still not filled: Books (2-3pm), Bric-a-brac (2-3pm), Angry Birds (2-3), Coconut Shy (2-3), Subutteo Footie pitch (12-1 or 1-2 pr 2-3) just taking money and timing for 5 mins. Sign-up sheet now in reception or email sarah@sarahmawdsley.co.uk or see Julia.

Sadly, these very popular stalls will close early leaving children disappointed unless we can fill all the slots. We will also make less profit for the children’s treats next year and we have already suffered a loss of income with cancellation of the fireworks. Please help if you can. Thank you.

Fitz Fashion Finds: There is now a box in reception where you can bring in any donations for this fab stall – good quality clean clothes, shoes, bags & accessories. 2nd hand uniform welcome also.

Jumble Jars

There is also a box in reception for placing your Jumble Jar donations. Please fill a clean jar of any size with small toys, treats, nic-nacs (novelty rubbers, hair accessories, bouncy balls etc) and wrapped sweets for the Jumble Jars tombola-style stall at the Fair. Old jam jars are ideal. Themed or decorated jars welcome but not necessary. All jar donations very welcome! (No nuts please).

Cafe Yum Yum

We’re looking for further volunteers to get involved in the brilliant Cafe Yum Yum. All welcome – either to help on the day or to donate cakes, savoury salads, quiches etc. We are also looking for people to operate the tills for an hour. Sign-up sheets are now in reception for volunteering & food donations or contact Nicolette, Mandy or Emily directly.

Thanks – FSA
