Newsletter -9th September 2010

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Friday 3rd September.  Staff have been working hard between training sessions to get everything organised.  The school hall and kitchen have been completely gutted over the holidays and are now being rebuilt.  The hall is almost in a useable state and we are hopeful that we will be able to have our first assembly in it by the middle of next week.  There will be a bit of disruption around the school because of the building works but our priority is to carry on as usual whilst making sure everyone stays safe.  Please supervise your children at all times whilst they are on the school premises.

Please remember that there will be no hot meals available at lunchtime.  Sandwiches can be ordered from Sodexo at a cost of £2.15 per day.  The orders will be collected by 9.30am each day.  If your child is entitled to free school meals a packed lunch will be provided.  If your child is bringing a packed lunch from home, please double check that they have it with them because there will be no back up option of a meal from the kitchen if a lunchbox is forgotten.

Newsletter-22nd July 2010

All parents, carers and children are invited to picnic in the school grounds between 3.30pm and 6.30pm today.  If it is raining the picnic will take place between 3.30pm and 5.30pm in the school hall.   The school must be vacated promptly at 5.30pm so that the hall can be made ready for our hirers who arrive at 6.00pm.

On the afternoon of Thursday 15th July Kingfisher and Starling class will go to the Wiltshire Music Centre to take part in a performance with a holiday theme as part of the work they have been doing with Mrs Valerie Winning-Hart, music specialist.  They will join 5 other schools on the stage of the music centre for a fun afternoon of singing.  Please see the attached letter for further details:

Music Centre visit 15th July

On Tuesday 13th July Kestrel class will go to the Wiltshire Music Centre to take part in a performance of the Farmyard Suite as part of their work with music specialist teacher Mrs Jane Lee.  They will rehearse in the morning and perform at 1.15pm for parents and carers.  All parents and carers of children in Kestrel class are warmly invited, no tickets required.  Please see the attached letter for further details:

Newsletter 8th July 2010

On Wednesday 7th July Chaffinch class will be visiting Trowbridge Museum as part of their teddy bear topic.  They will take part in a workshop looking at the types of toys which children played with in the past.  Please see the attached letter for further details: Trowbridge Museum July 10

Sports Day for all children is on Tuesday 29th June.  FS2 and KS1 will run their races in the morning between 10am and 11.30am. They will take part in a carousel of sporting activities in the afternoon.  KS2 will have an activity morning and race in the afternoon starting at 1.30pm.  Parents and carers are very welcome to come along and support the children either by watching the races or helping with the activity sessions.  Please let Miss Blake or Mrs Bird know if you are able to help with the activity sessions.

As the children will be outside for a large part of the day we would be very grateful if you could make sure on Tuesday that your child has his/her PE kit, a refillable water bottle, a sun hat and sun cream to reapply during the day.  We will make sure that the children spend time in the shade and encourage them to drink but your help in this connection would be much appreciated.
