All parents, carers and children are invited to picnic in the school grounds between 3.30pm and 6.30pm today.  If it is raining the picnic will take place between 3.30pm and 5.30pm in the school hall.   The school must be vacated promptly at 5.30pm so that the hall can be made ready for our hirers who arrive at 6.00pm.

On the afternoon of Thursday 15th July Kingfisher and Starling class will go to the Wiltshire Music Centre to take part in a performance with a holiday theme as part of the work they have been doing with Mrs Valerie Winning-Hart, music specialist.  They will join 5 other schools on the stage of the music centre for a fun afternoon of singing.  Please see the attached letter for further details:

Music Centre visit 15th July

On Tuesday 13th July Kestrel class will go to the Wiltshire Music Centre to take part in a performance of the Farmyard Suite as part of their work with music specialist teacher Mrs Jane Lee.  They will rehearse in the morning and perform at 1.15pm for parents and carers.  All parents and carers of children in Kestrel class are warmly invited, no tickets required.  Please see the attached letter for further details:

Music Centre visit 13th July

On Wednesday 7th July Chaffinch class will be visiting Trowbridge Museum as part of their teddy bear topic.  They will take part in a workshop looking at the types of toys which children played with in the past.  Please see the attached letter for further details: Trowbridge Museum July 10

Sports Day for all children is on Tuesday 29th June.  FS2 and KS1 will run their races in the morning between 10am and 11.30am. They will take part in a carousel of sporting activities in the afternoon.  KS2 will have an activity morning and race in the afternoon starting at 1.30pm.  Parents and carers are very welcome to come along and support the children either by watching the races or helping with the activity sessions.  Please let Miss Blake or Mrs Bird know if you are able to help with the activity sessions.

As the children will be outside for a large part of the day we would be very grateful if you could make sure on Tuesday that your child has his/her PE kit, a refillable water bottle, a sun hat and sun cream to reapply during the day.  We will make sure that the children spend time in the shade and encourage them to drink but your help in this connection would be much appreciated.

On Wednesday 30th June Kestrel class will visit The Museum of the Great Western Railway at Swindon as part of their transport topic.  They will take part in a workshop about the innovations of Brunel and Stephenson.  Please find further details in the attached letter:  Trip to Steam, Swindon June 2010

On Thursday 10th June we will be holding a meeting for parents and carers to explain how maths is taught to your child and how you can help them at home.  Please put this date in your diary and come along to find out more.  Details of time and place will be announced shortly.

On Saturday 19th June the Fitzmaurice School Association will be holding our annual Strawberry Fair.  It promises to be a fun packed day with a variety of great stalls, miniature train, a super-slide, Pimm’s and ale tent, World Cup 5 aside tournament, Yum Yum cafe and more.  Come along and join in the fun!

Bradford on Avon Sure Start Community Children’s Centre are also having an open day from 11am to 3pm to coincide with the Strawberry Fair.  Why not pop in and see what they have to offer for families with children from 0-5.
